Only the FRAM Racing oil filters HP4 and HP8 that were manufactured from May 25, 2006 through September 14, 2007. These oil filters can be identified by date code: A61451 through A72571 sequentially.

What does the date code mean? |
| A: |
The first digit refers to the year and the next three digits refer to the date identified as 1 - 365 days. The last digit refers to the manufacturing shift. For example, A63201 = 2006, 320 day (November 16) and shift one. |

What is the nature of the defect and why is it a safety issue? |
| A: |
The gasket of the oil filter may become more pliable under high temperatures and pressures. This condition may cause inadequate sealing and loss of engine oil. |

How do retail consumers return affected product? |

The consumer should return the unused filter to the store where they purchased the product. If the product is used they should dispose of the product properly according to local Federal, State, Provincial and local regulations and, if they still have the receipt, they should bring the receipt back to the store for a refund. If they do not have the receipt, they should speak to the store where they originally purchased the filter about how to process the refund. |
